Surrendering Process

We understand that surrendering your pug maybe one of the hardest decisions you'll ever have to make. People surrender their animals due to many reasons. For whatever your reason - whether it be financial, a change in a family situation, relocating (where they don't allow pets), or a mismatch of personalities between you and the dog; Manitoba Pug Rescue is here to help with the decision you've made. As dog owners ourselves, we know how hard it is to give up your beloved pet.

We will take in any and all pugs and pug mixes regardless of age, health and/or behavorial issues. Prior to surrendering your pug, we ask that you gather any information regarding your pug's veterinary care, including vaccination certificates. If you are unable to find these papers, please provide us with authorization to contact your veternarian.

At the time of surrender, a Placement Co-ordinator will ask you to sign a waiver that allows us to be legal guardians of your dog.

He/she will then be put into foster care or taken directly to the vet, whichever is appropriate to the situation. Your pug will then be assessed to see what kind of family would suit him/her best. Your pug will not placed in a shelter enviroment, but will instead go to a loving foster family and treated as if they were one of the family.

They will be neutered/spayed if required and all vaccines will be updated prior to being adopted.

If you can no longer care for your pug, please contact us at manitobapugrescue@gmail.com and a  Placement Co-ordinator will contact you to provide assistance.
